01. DISCOVERY
Target Audience: I assumed that the target audience for the bakery app consists of busy individuals aged 20 to 45, who prefer convenient mobile ordering for fresh baked goods. They likely use food delivery apps regularly, expecting a simple, intuitive interface with features like saved orders, customization options, and real-time order tracking. This audience values speed and efficiency, particularly during work breaks or commutes, and is motivated by access to specialty bakery items and clear customization options for dietary preferences such as gluten-free or vegan choices.

Competitive analysis:
The competitive analysis provides an overview of three key local bakery competitors in Orange County, but the actual names have been removed for confidentiality.
Each competitor offers distinct app experiences: one focuses on pick-up services, another displays only menus and locations, and the third excels in both delivery and pick-up options, despite some delivery timing issues. All competitors position themselves as family-friendly, fresh-product bakeries with varying price points. Key opportunities lie in improving order customization and accessibility features across the board.

Branding:
The UI design for this project combines a playful and inviting aesthetic with functional ease.
I designed the logo using a fun market pen typography, giving it a friendly, approachable feel that reflects the casual yet quality-driven nature of the bakery.
For the typography throughout the app, I chose clean, modern fonts to ensure readability and a sleek user experience.
The color palette was carefully selected to evoke warmth and familiarity, with soft, welcoming tones that enhance the overall user journey, from browsing the menu to confirming an order.

Methodology: It was selected five participants, aged 18 to 50, all located in Orange County, to test the app. After interacting with the app and completing an order, it was conducted in-depth interviews to gather qualitative feedback on their experience. This approach revealed a variety of perspectives and highlighted specific difficulties users encountered during the ordering process. By directly engaging with a diverse range of participants, I was able to uncover key pain points, as well as areas where the app's usability could be improved.

KPI'S (Key Performance Indicators):
Conversion rate: how many products are customers ordering?
User error rate: how often users get stuck during the ordering process?
Time on task: how long do customers take to finish their order?
In summary, the study highlighted that while users generally found the app functional, there were some usability issues, particularly with order customization and navigation. Addressing these pain points will help improve the overall user experience and reduce potential friction during the ordering process.
